Save the Date: ACUK 25 -27 September 2026!

“Following the return of ACUK this year, and taking on board the feedback we’ve had, we are now starting to plan for ACUK 2026, so we can give everyone more notice for diary purposes.

We are planning to run this on Friday 25th to Sunday 27th September. We’re looking to use the same hybrid residential model as 2025. Con Membership (ie excluding accommodation) cost will remain at £30.

However, because the SACO venue this year is closing down from April 2026, we are proposing to move to a new venue: Premier Suites, Minster Court, Minster Street, Reading. This is broadly comparable in price and amenities to SACO, but is much more central to Reading itself, right next to the Oracle shopping centre. Parking will be slightly more difficult, but there is a good local car park option in Queen’s Road just a few minutes walk away. The venue also has a lift serving all floors, so those with mobility issues should be better catered for.

We hope to see you there!

Submissions for AmberCon UK 2025 games are now open!

Welcome – to those of you who have attended AmberCon UK before and newcomers alike!

AmberCon UK 2025 will be our twenty-eighth annual roleplaying convention devoted to the Amber Diceless Roleplaying Game (after a break last year) and we hope you will join us at SACO Reading Castle Cresent from November 7th – 9th 2025.

This year’s Ambercon UK is a somewhat different prospect given it has been late being put together by a new team.

As such it is being held in apartments rather than a hotel setting and con goers will need to find their own accommodation. A list of a variety of differently priced options is included on this page.

What’s planned?
Just as Amber is not an ordinary RPG, AmberCon UK is no ordinary game convention. AmberCon UK ’25 will feature events for players of all levels of experience, including new character auctions, stand-alone scenarios, new and continuing mini-campaigns, freeform games and the chance to meet, relax with, and plot hideously against your fellow Amber players in comfort.

There will be four official gaming sessions:
Session 1: Friday evening 6pm – midnight
Session2: Saturday day 9am – 5pm
Session 3: Saturday evening 6pm – midnight
Session 4: Sunday morning 10am – 6pm

In addition there may be Sunday evening game/s as we have the apartments until Monday morning.

The con membership itself is £30.

For more information, see here.

Let us know if you’ll be joining us!

Back in 2020 …

We’re afraid it’s the news you’ve all been expecting.

Due to the pandemic of Covid 19, we have had to cancel this year’s AmberCon UK. We hope that the situation will have resolved in time for us to come back for AmberCon UK 2021 – and we’ll keep you informed about this.

In the mean-time, if you are craving an Amber fix …

A lot of you will have already heard about this but just in case word hasn’t reached you, Kevin (who also runs AmberCon Northern Ireland) is organising a free virtual (i.e. online only) AmberCon at the end of July.

Tir Na Nog’th Con will be on the weekend of the 31st July-2nd August 2020.

You can register for the Con using this form:
https://forms.gle/CDpUxhGqUMDuT1wx7

However please note that he’s been working on this for a while and the registration deadline for the Con is Sunday the 5th of July, only a few days away!

The Con is mostly being organised via the ACNI discord server, which you can join following this link: https://discord.gg/DV5Vfgv

If you are not familiar with Discord it is a chat platform similar to things like Slack and Teams but used mostly by gamers and it is easy (and free) to create an account.

You can also contact Kevin via the ACNI website: http://amberconni.org.uk/welcome/register/contact-us/

And we’re sure he’d be especially happy to hear from GMs wanting to run games they had planned to run at ACUK

Remember though the deadline is the 5th of July, so if you want to attend, don’t delay – click the link today!
